Everything we bake starts with something we grew. That is not a marketing line — it is a practical constraint that shapes every recipe we bring to the Carrboro Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings.
Our ginger cookies are made with fresh ginger harvested from our own plants here in Oxford, North Carolina. The difference between a ginger cookie made with fresh ginger and one made with dried ground ginger is significant: the fresh root brings a bright, juicy heat and a floral quality that the dried powder cannot replicate. Our customers notice. The cookies sell out reliably, which is why we always remind people to come early.
Ginger Lemon Cream Sandwich Cookies
Our most popular bakery item is the ginger lemon cream sandwich cookie — two chewy ginger cookies with a bright lemon cream filling. The combination of the warm spice from the ginger and the sharp citrus of the lemon is one of those flavor pairings that just works. We make them in small batches, by hand, using our own ginger and real lemon.
Blueberry and Strawberry Cream Cheese Breakfast Muffins
When blueberries are in season on the farm, we bake blueberry cream cheese breakfast muffins — a rich, tender muffin with a cream cheese swirl and fresh blueberries picked from our own bushes in Granville County. Strawberry cream cheese muffins follow the same approach. These are not muffins made with frozen fruit or commercial mix. They are made with fruit we picked ourselves, often the day before.
Why quantities are always limited
We are a small, family-operated boutique farm. We do not scale our bakery to meet demand — we bake what we can bake well, with ingredients we grew ourselves. That means some Saturdays the muffins are gone by 8 AM. We are not sorry about that. It means they were worth making.
Find us every Saturday from 7 AM to 12 PM at the Carrboro Farmers' Market in Carrboro, NC.
